Regulations Guiding Electronic and Appliance Repair and Service

To protect consumers, the Bureau of Electronic and Appliance Repair enforces the laws governing electronic and appliance repair. The bureau has developed regulations guiding the conduct of electronic and appliance repair businesses, as well as sellers and administrators of service contracts. The regulations define acceptable practices, specify penalties for illegal practices, and require that businesses give consumers important information. The regulations pertaining to BEAR are contained in Title 16 of the California Code of Regulations, Division 27, beginning at Section 2700. These regulations were adopted pursuant to BEAR's authority in Business and Professions Code sections 9814 and 9814.5.
